Pool Cover Rain and Snow Load
Rain and snow add weight the leading edge and anchors were not meant to carry as a daily habit. Pump rain if the cover is designed for a pump. Leave snow until it melts unless the manufacturer gave a written removal method that does not put you on the sheet. Load ratings are test conditions, not a license to walk the pile down.

Rain versus snow
Rain becomes a pond on solid and on many automatic fabrics. Snow is a cold, uneven load that also hides the leading edge. Meltwater then becomes rain again. Treat them as two stops: do not travel under either load.
What owners can do
After rain, pump from the deck if the cover is still in the tracks. After snow, wait. Keep people off the cover. Check the vault lid so patio melt is not filling the box around a motor.
| Load | Owner action | Do not |
|---|---|---|
| Rain pond | Pump if the design allows it | Run the cover to dump it |
| Snow blanket | Wait for thaw, then pump melt | Shovel from the center of the fabric |
| Ice on tracks | Wait | Force the key |
| Rated load cited in a brochure | Read it as a test, not a walkway | Stand on the snow to "test" it |

When a professional is required
Call if webbing has stretched, the bar is twisted, or the cover left a track under load. Prevention is a pump habit, a winter plan that matches the product, and no travel against a loaded sheet. See the walk-on page if someone is using the cover as a deck.
What to read with this page
Use the parent hub for the product family, then stay inside this cluster for the decision you still have open. The related cards below are the three pages that usually settle the next question without sending you back to a generic search.
If travel is already unsafe, leave the guide and open repair. If you need a preliminary system read, use request system advice with photos of both ends and both long sides.
When weather becomes a stop-use condition
A pond, wet snow, or ice on a travel cover is extra load. Pump rain if the design allows it. Leave ice alone. Do not drive the leading edge to "shed" a storm. The water on the cover page is the rain sibling of this one.
常见问题
- Will a higher load rating let me ignore the pump?
- No. A rating is not a water-management plan. Ponding still twists the leading edge.
- Can I brush snow from the coping?
- Only what you can reach without stepping on the fabric, and only if the installer said brushing is safe for that sheet. When unsure, wait for melt.
- Can I run the cover after the snow melts?
- After the sheet is clear and you have checked that fabric is still in both tracks. Melt water can hide in the housing.
