Automatic Pool Cover Annual Inspection
An annual inspection is a technician visit that checks tracks, limits, drive, webbing, and fabric before a season of daily travel. Owners prepare access and a list of symptoms. They do not open motor boxes or reset hydraulics for the visit. Book extra time after a stall, a remodel, or any cover that stopped mid-run.

What the visit is for
The job is to catch wear while the cover still travels. Webbing stretch, tired gliders, a wet housing, and limits that have drifted are cheaper than a torn sheet. The visit is also when someone writes down whether the system can still be called a safety cover if that claim mattered at install.
Inspection scope
Ask for a written list, not a wave at the roller. The table is the minimum this site expects on an annual ticket.
| Item | What good looks like | Owner prep |
|---|---|---|
| Tracks and gliders | Straight guides, all slugs present | Clear the deck and rinse loose debris |
| Webbing and ropes | No cut strands, even take-up | Do not tension anything yourself |
| Leading edge and fabric | Bar square, no new tears | Note stains and sag before the visit |
| Limits and travel | Stops at housing and far wall without slam | Have the key ready; keep children off the deck |
| Drive | Dry motor or a pack without leaks | Clear the equipment room; do not open covers |
| Housing drain and lid | Water leaves the box | Show where patio water goes after rain |

When to call before the year is up
Call after a lightning event near the equipment, a hydraulic stain, fabric that left a track, or a remodel that moved coping. The calendar page lists the default year. This page is the visit itself.
What to read with this page
Use the parent hub for the product family, then stay inside this cluster for the decision you still have open. The related cards below are the three pages that usually settle the next question without sending you back to a generic search.
If travel is already unsafe, leave the guide and open repair. If you need a preliminary system read, use request system advice with photos of both ends and both long sides.
What a useful visit should produce
You should leave with a written note on fabric, webbing, tracks, limits, drain, and controls. "Looked fine" is not an inspection. Ask for the parts that will be due next season so fabric replacement is a plan, not a surprise.
常见问题
- Can a pool service company do this instead of a cover technician?
- Only if they service this brand of track and drive. A chemistry route is not a cover inspection.
- Does inspection keep a warranty alive?
- Some warranties ask for proof of care. Read the warranty page and keep the invoice. This visit is still worth doing when no warranty remains.
- Can my pool cleaner do this inspection?
- Only if they are trained on that cover system. A general cleaner can rinse a deck. They should not set limits or open a pack.
