Automatic Pool Covers for Custom and Luxury Pools
A custom or luxury pool is not a larger rectangle. It is a stack of exceptions: raised walls, glass, waterfeatures, interior spas, and finishes that cannot be opened later. Automatic covers still need two tracks and a housing. This page is the stop-or-continue review so a high-end deck does not get a cover promised in a meeting and undone at tile.

Start with geometry, not finish
Stone, glass fences, and fire features do not create a track path. If the waterline cannot take a square leading edge, the cover conversation ends before anyone picks a lid material. Read the freeform and infinity pages if those shapes are in the design. This page is for the leftovers: multiple bodies, art edges, and service access through expensive finish.
Luxury details that kill a cover later
A lid tiled flush with no joint. A housing under a built-in bench. Tracks that require removing a glass fence to service a glider. Hydraulic lines with no sleeve because the equipment room is "too pretty" for a pack. Each of those is a future tear-out. Write the service path into the finish schedule.
| Custom move | Cover question | Fail if |
|---|---|---|
| Glass or cable fence on the long side | Can a technician reach the rail? | The fence sits on the only fastener line |
| Interior finish on the box lid | How does the lid lift? | The lid is grouted as one patio |
| Waterfeature on an end wall | Which end holds the housing? | Both ends are spoken for |
| Hidden everything | Where does the pack or motor live? | No room and no later access |

A valid no
The best specification on a custom pool is sometimes "no automatic cover." A tested manual safety cover, or no cover and a different barrier plan, is better than a forced rail through art coping. Use the advice form if you want a preliminary read before the finish package locks.
What to read with this page
Use the parent hub for the product family, then stay inside this cluster for the decision you still have open. The related cards below are the three pages that usually settle the next question without sending you back to a generic search.
If travel is already unsafe, leave the guide and open repair. If you need a preliminary system read, use request system advice with photos of both ends and both long sides.
What "custom" has to mean on paper
Custom is a manufacturer-signed geometry, not a salesperson adjective. If no one will put the leftover water, the raised wall, and the housing on a drawing, you do not have a custom cover. You have a hope.
常见问题
- Can money solve a bad shape?
- Money can buy custom engineering. It cannot make a leading edge follow a circle. Ask for a written coverability review.
- Should the architect pick the cover first?
- If an automatic cover is required, yes. Finish-first is how hidden track and housing disappear.
- Is a custom automatic cover still a safety cover?
- Only if that custom configuration was tested or the manufacturer documents why the standard still applies. Custom is not a shortcut around ASTM language.
