Automatic Pool Covers for Pools with Spas
A pool and spa is two water bodies that may share a wall, a spillway, or a raised bench. An automatic cover tracks one rectangle. The spa either sits inside that rectangle, sits outside it, or blocks an end that the housing needed. This page is the dual-body brief so the bid names both waters.

Three geometries, three jobs
A spa in the same plane as the pool can sometimes live under the same fabric if the tracks can pass it. A raised spa usually sits outside the cover and needs its own lid or safety cover. A spillway through a track line is a stop. Water that crosses the guide will not stay a clean travel path.
What the drawing must show
Which body the automatic cover is for, where the spa wall sits relative to the tracks, and who owns a separate spa cover. A quote that says "pool and spa" with one fabric width is how owners discover an uncovered spa at startup.
| Spa layout | Automatic cover prospect | Spa still needs |
|---|---|---|
| In-plane, inside the rectangle | Maybe one fabric if tracks clear the wall | A written yes from the installer |
| Raised, outside the tracks | Cover the pool only | Its own lid or safety cover |
| Spillway across a long side | Usually a no until the spillway is redesigned | A barrier plan that does not use that rail |
| Spa owns the only housing end | Find another end or drop automatic | A housing that is not the spa bench |

Safety language
A covered pool and an open spa is not a site-wide safety cover. If the owner asked for a tested barrier, both bodies have to be in the claim or the claim is incomplete. See the ASTM page for how that evidence works.
What to read with this page
Use the parent hub for the product family, then stay inside this cluster for the decision you still have open. The related cards below are the three pages that usually settle the next question without sending you back to a generic search.
If travel is already unsafe, leave the guide and open repair. If you need a preliminary system read, use request system advice with photos of both ends and both long sides.
Two bodies, one leading edge
The bar travels in a straight pair of rails. A spa that sits in that rectangle has to be covered, raised, or left as leftover water. Leftover water is still water a child can reach. Write the choice. Do not hide it in a pretty render.
常见问题
- Can one key run a pool cover and a spa cover?
- Only if they were designed as two systems with a documented control plan. Do not assume one switch.
- Does a vanishing-edge spa change this?
- Yes. Treat it as an infinity problem plus a spa problem. Read both pages before anyone bids fabric.
- Can I cover the pool and leave the spa open?
- Only if the spa sits fully outside the travel path and the remaining water is still a safe, specified barrier. Many shared decks fail that test.
