Automatic Pool Cover Sagging
Sagging usually means the fabric has lost support from the water, the webbing has stretched, or standing water is pooling in the middle. Owners can check water level and pump a designed cover. Torn webbing, a dropped leading edge, or a cover that people have walked on is a stop-use condition. Do not tension ropes yourself.

Immediate stop-use and safety action
Keep people off the fabric. A sagging cover is not a place to stand, even if it once held a load test photo. If ropes or webbing look failed, leave the cover and call. If the only issue is a low pool, restore level before you run travel.
Likely causes and safe owner checks
Fabric systems rest on or just above the water between the tracks. Level and clean webbing do most of the support job.
| Check | Owner can do | Stop and call |
|---|---|---|
| Water level | Raise or lower to the specified mark | Fabric still hangs after level is right |
| Standing water | Pump if the design allows a cover pump | Webbing looks stretched or torn |
| Webbing and ropes | Look from the deck for fray | A line has snapped or pulled out |
| Leading edge | See if the bar still sits square | Bar is bent or dropped |

What not to do
Do not add makeshift props under the fabric. Do not retie webbing under tension. Do not treat sagging as permission to walk the low spot down. Those steps are how covers leave the tracks.
When a professional is required
Call for webbing, rope, or leading-edge work. Fabric replacement is a measured part when the sheet itself is tired. Prevention is operating level, no standing water, and chemistry that does not cook the top side.
What to read with this page
Use the parent hub for the product family, then stay inside this cluster for the decision you still have open. The related cards below are the three pages that usually settle the next question without sending you back to a generic search.
If travel is already unsafe, leave the guide and open repair. If you need a preliminary system read, use request system advice with photos of both ends and both long sides.
Sag is a support problem first
Fabric between the tracks needs the commissioned water level. Low water drops the sheet. Failed webbing drops one edge. A pond on top adds weight that looks like sag and then becomes a travel problem.
常见问题
- Will raising the water fix every sag?
- It fixes the common support problem. Stretched webbing and a tired sheet still need a technician.
- Is a sagging cover still a safety cover?
- A damaged or out-of-spec install is not the tested system. See the ASTM page for how claims are verified.
- Will adding water fix a wrinkled cover?
- It can fix sag from a low level. It will not fix stretched webbing or a fabric that is finished.
