Hydraulic Pool Cover System Design
Hydraulic cover design is a site provision problem. The power pack needs a dry, reachable room. Lines need a protected route that concrete will not crush. The housing still needs a roller, drainage, and a lid. This page is the circuit brief for specifiers. Filling, bleeding, and opening a pack are technician work.
What the drawing must show
Pack location, line path, electrical feed for the pack, and how a technician reaches fittings later. A note that says "hydraulic" with no room and no sleeve is not a design. The cover installer cannot invent a chase after the beam is poured.
Pack, lines, and housing
Keep the pack ventilated and above standing water. Mark sleeves before the pour. Pressure-test before concealment. The pool-end box can stay simpler than an electric housing, but it still stores the roll and still drains.

When hydraulic is a weak spec
No pack room, long unsupported runs, and no later access make hydraulic harder than electric. Conversion after an electric install is a new design review, not a hose kit. If those conditions are true, fix the site or choose electric.

- That is a manufacturer number, not a guess from a garden hose. Ask for the allowed length and the number of bends before the pad is poured.
- Can the pack share a room with pool chemicals?
- Corrosive storage next to a pack is a poor room. Ask for ventilation and separation, not a shelf over the acid.
