Automatic Pool Covers for New Construction

Why new-build still uses a decision tree
If the pool is freeform or vanishing-edge, new construction does not automatically make an automatic cover honest. The leading edge still has to travel a pair of guides. Run the same shape review you would run on a retrofit, then use the extra time to hide the track if the geometry works.
Trade split on a new pool
The builder owns shell geometry, box rough-in, and deck elevation. The electrician owns the circuit and disconnect. The cover installer owns tracks, roller, fabric, limits, and owner briefing. Write that split into the bid so the gap does not sit between contracts.

- Can we decide the drive after the shell is in?
- Only if the housing and equipment room were sized for both. Otherwise the late choice forces electric or a messy hydraulic line run.
- Can the plumber size the box drain?
- The plumber can run the pipe. The cover drawing should name the outlet, the slope, and whether the box can flood the motor space.
- When do I order fabric on a new pool?
- After finished waterline dimensions exist, not from the first excavation sketch. Shells move.
